GTSSI 8″ Dial Stem Thermometer

$22.00$28.50

Our 8″ Dial Stem Thermometer includes a metal clamp to secure the thermometer in place. The stem has a line that shows you how far you need to insert the thermometer in order to get the most accurate reading.

All of our dial thermometers come with an adjustable hex nut making it easy to adjust to whatever reference thermometer you’re using.

How it works

The Dial Stem thermometer is a simple but effective tool for measuring temperature. The dial connects to a spring which is made up of two different metals. When exposed to a temperature, the two metals move and that causes the dial to move. Because the movement of the metals are predictable, the thermometer has a high degree of accuracy ±1%.

Calibration Procedure

To calibrate your dial thermometer you will need to use your reference thermometer and an oil or water bath. Agitate the liquid and submerge both thermometers for approximately 3 minutes and then compare the results.

The dial stem thermometer can be adjusted using the hex nut underneath of the dial face. Hold the dial and use a small wrench to move the needle where it needs to be. Then if you want to be thorough, you can repeat these steps again.

Troubleshooting

Unfortunately there’s not much to be done in the way of fixing these. If a thermometer is dropped you should replace it with a new one.
